3 Reasons Why Digital Point’s PageRank Got Penalised
I have just been looking at what keywords people have been typing in to find this blog and someone searched for:
“digital point forum pr has been reduced”
So I’m guessing this searcher is curious to know why Digital Point Solutions and Digital Point Forums have both had their PageRank scores dramatically reduced:
- www.digitalpoint.com is down from a PR 7/10 to a PR 4/10
- forums.digitalpoint.com is down from a PR 6/10 to a PR 4/10
Here are 3 good reasons why Google might have spanked their PageRank scores.
1. The buying and selling of signature links amongst its users – Buying and selling links that pass PageRank is against the guidelines, this alone could warrant a PR penalty.
2. The link sales forum – Plenty of guideline breaking links get sold in that forum every day, again this could warrant a penalty.
3. DP COOP – The Digital Point Coop link exchange network is still active and spamming Google’s search results to this day.
And that’s just for starters, I’m sure if I looked into it further I could find a few more.

Good points mentioned. Coop has always been a reason for DP’s downgrade in rankings. Btw yep the Business section with Link Sales in it can be a big reason which is not supported by Google.

I was just having this debate with a colleague yesterday. I am of the opinion that buying/selling links is a bad SEO practice that can get you penalized, and he was saying the opposite.
Looks like I was right…

I was wondering this myself, but I think the buying/selling of links in signatures is a big deal to Google, so that would be where I’d place my bet.

I think it is important to always follow Google guidelines when performing any online marketing. Too much to gamble especially if a website is your livelihood.

Wow – I knew DP did this since I am a member of the forum – and there were many ppl predicting that this would come to pass…sure enough, it did.
I was under the assumption that DP wasn’t penalized and still left sig links there. I’ll still be going back there though, in my opinion, it’s a great site to learn from others.

that’s correct, digital point rank has got down, they have just allow two links free, but before they were allowing 4 links for free. i completely agree that it’s the reason it’s page ranks dropped. SEO COMPANY UK

I don’t actually really get the idea of buying and selling of signature links whom when search engine caught you, you’ll get penalized because of it. One thing is, your page rank will suffer to what you have done.

LOL. Typical Google scaremongering tactics at work here. A drop in toolbar PR means nothing in this case. Check the real SEO metrics (e.g MozRank, Page Strength, ACR, and Domain Authority scores) and you’ll see the DigitalPoint is as strong as ever.
Don’t fall for the PR myth.

But the ranking is high when search for the keywords…
